Abstract: This article analyzes the motif of food in the Platonov’s play “Magical Creatures”. The analysis of this motif is carried out with regard to the location of that play in a number of other Platonov’s works: as prose, and drama. The conclusion about the function and semantics motive food in his relationship with the motives of memory / oblivion and demons, as well as building the story of the situation through the substitution of memory as the power of the heart as the food supply of the body, which allows the author to define the Platonov’s plays of 30's – 40’s years as a single metatext.
