Abstract: The article describes one of the forms of learning Russian at school in the historical aspect. The school practice of learning Russian language is constantly faced with the phenomenon of language which difficult to explain for the modern point of view. These phenomena require knowledge of the history of language. Historical tours, which can be used during the Russian language lessons, extra-curricular activities, preparing students for the Olympiad on the subject, will help students more conscious and deeper to absorb training material, master the modern Russian language. The material includes tasks and exercises that shape students' communicative, linguistic and cultural competence. The technologies presented in this paper are focused on linguistic development, patriotic, spiritual and aesthetic education of the student and include the solution of language problems. The proposed elective course helps students strengthen independent work and develop research skills with language material.
