Abstract: The article proposes one of the options for reading the most famous novel by Turgenev in the light of the semantic code, which is set by the writer himself and is fixed in the last lines of the work. This is a quote from the funeral hymn «With the Holy Rest in Peace», where there are words about «eternal reconciliation». The «eternal reconciliation» is considered in the article not only as an obvious sign of the dialectic of life, suggesting its calm and indifferent current to all human, but also as a manifestation of the living and cordial participation of people in each other, conditioned by their God-nature. It is shown how the artistic principle is realized in the novel: the situation of no meeting (divergence) is replaced by a meeting (connection), including at the compositional level. On the principle of meeting and not meeting the system of relations between all fathers and children is organized, the more so that in the role of the first can be both real parents and those characters who independently assume such a responsibility function, or whose «fatherhood» or «sonship» is a sign of belonging to different generations or worldviews. The article reveals that the dialectic of life's contradictions is synthesized, or reconciled by love, and it is based on the fatherly — in the broadest sense of the word — care, custody of children, prayer for them and blessing, regardless of whether they are good or bad. It is proved that the lasting value of the novel «Fathers and Sons» and its relevance are due to Turgenev’s artistic discovery, the key meaning of which was the discovery of unity and ties in what seemed to be disconnected and split irrevocably.
