Abstract: The article examines the linguistic images of Egypt in the lyrical texts of K. D. Balmont in conjunction with discursive-modal artistic concepts, which are mental structures of a complex integrative nature. The scope of the study includes the linguistic associative-figurative meanings of the discursive-modal artistic geoconcept ‘Egypt’ created by Balmont, and the object of research embraces the metaphorical worldview and the lexico-semantic means of poetic verbalization of this geoconcept, which allow creating a life-like image based on salient, sometimes unexpected associations of the poet’s lyrics. The aim of the study is to identify the figurativesemantic content of artistic concepts about Egypt, which combine, in addition to objectively reflected properties and characteristics of discursively modeled realities, the author’s evaluative value-based experience of the eventdriven elements of the discursive situation. The discursive-modal method is used to analyze the linguistic images of Egypt in the artistic concepts of Balmont. Artistic concepts about Egypt play the leading role in the formation of the ethno-cultural world of Balmont. The article reveals the verbal means of representation of the author’s vision of the Egyptian worldview, as well as the lexico-semantic means of poetic verbalization of traditional images. The study shows the suggestive significance of these means in the provision of connotative meanings to the emotional and aesthetic content of linguistic images. The article focuses attention on the fact that the sources of the emergence of linguistic images of Egypt is the authored, personal, intellectual and emotional perception and ‘mobile experience’ of the geoconcept ‘Egypt’, as evidenced by the changing subjective author’s emotive connotations, which contain not only the potential to reveal images, but also excite fresh feelings, creative imagination and high spirits. The results of the study can be used to analyze the author’s discursive imagery of lyrical texts. A distinctive feature of the geoconcept under study consists in its ability to evoke personal meanings in the recipient and to make them produce a panoramic emotional interpretation of the discourse of the entire communicative event. Linguistic images, while visualizing the mental space of each artistic concept, turn the conceptosphere into a cognitive-modal substratum of the poetic worldview created by the author.
