Abstract: The problem of lexicographic description of the sound-symbolic vocabulary of the Russian literary language consists in the fact that the phonetic unit (according to experimental data) demonstrates the ability to model the evaluative context of per-ception of the meaning of a word. This fact makes it necessary to take into account phonosemantic connotations in the dictionary definition, which are understood as a complex of additional meanings, evoked by its phonetic structure. The aim of this study is to develop a method of lexicographic description of sound-symbolic words (ideophones) of the modern Russian literary language (ac-cording to psycholinguistic experiments), reflecting the psychological reality of the meaning of linguistic units in the entire set of emotional-expressive-evaluative connotations evoked by their sounding. The study employs the following research methods: the method of component analysis (in the process of identifying semantic markers of expressiveness of ideophones in a dictionary en-try); the psycholinguistic methods (free associative experiment, directed associative experiment, method of direct interpretation of the meaning of a word), the method of statistical data processing (while delimiting the associative fields of ideophones). The dic-tionary is intended to contain a comprehensive thesaurus of sound-symbolic words of the modern Russian literary language with their definitions worked out on the basis of experimental data. The structure of the dictionary entry includes a denotative, connota-tive and phonosemantic components of the semantic structure of a word. The urgency of the study can be attributed to the demand in modern lexicography for dictionaries based on the data from everyday linguistic consciousness. The novelty of the research stems from the fact that for the first time it presents an algorithm for lexicographic description of the phonosemantic motivation of words in the Russian literary language (based on the data from modern linguistic consciousness). The dictionary project contributes to the formation of a theoretical understanding of the structure of the meaning of a sound-symbolic word. The dictionary materials can be used in linguistic research in phonosemantics, in practical teaching, while creating texts of different styles and genres in order to enhance the impact on the addressee, and in linguistic expertise.
