Abstract: The article examines the changes in the strophic patterns of the Russian poetry of the last decades. The author argues that the contemporary Russian poetry has departed from the traditional poetic forms towards free verse and heteromorphous verse. The article speaks about the emergence of the meaning-based strophic form, a new strophic discipline in which the verse is separated into strophes entirely on the semantic basis. The author points out the extremely sophisticated character of the contemporary strophic thinking, which is achieved through various transformations of the classic strophes.
